Arena
The Arena in town (bottom-left, by the south road) is where towns test their heroes against each other. Fights are not played live: you set a defense team, other towns challenge it while you are away, and every fight can be watched as a replay.
#Defense and challenges
- Pick a defense team of 1 to 5 heroes. Only towns with a defense can challenge others, and are offered as opponents.
- Each game day you get 5 challenges. Three opponents near your rating are offered; you can ask for new ones 3 times a day. When few real towns are near your rating, practice teams around your level fill in.
- Pick 1 to 5 heroes for the challenge and the server decides the fight at once. Then you watch it in the arena.
- Your heroes keep hunting. They fight as they are at that moment (level, gear, traits, spells) at full health with extra HP (more at higher levels, so fights last about 15 seconds at any level), without potions or auras, and they lose no HP.
- Positions: slots 1–2 are the front row, the rest the back row. Enemy melee heroes strike the front row first, in slot order, and reach the back row only once the front has fallen; ranged and magic heroes strike whoever has the least HP left, wherever they stand; a taunting hero is always struck first. Fighters belong in front; rangers, mages and clerics are safer behind. Spells for several enemies or the whole team work in full here (they hit one target while hunting). A fight lasts at most 90 seconds; then the side with more HP left wins.
#Rating and seasons
- Everyone starts at 1,000 rating. A win takes rating from the defender (more for an upset); the defender moves half as much the other way.
- The first season lasts 30 game days from the day the Arena opens; every season after it lasts 7 game days. At the end, the top towns are kept on the board and every rating moves halfway back to 1,000.
- The Arena is ranking only: no Coin, Crystal or items are won or lost.
- You get a notice when someone challenges your defense, with a button to watch the replay.
